Abstract The association between chronic hepatitis C infection (HCV) and glomerular disease has been established. Three principal types of renal diseases including mixed cryoglobulinemia, memberanoproliferative glomerulonephritis, and membranous nephropathy are recognized. The majority of patients with HCV-associated renal complications have evidence of liver disease as reflected by elevated plasma aminotransferase concentration. There are some reports demonstrating a beneficial response to combination therapy with interferon and ribavirin in these patients. This report presents a HCV+ patient with chronic hepatitis and nephrotic syndrome. The patient was treated with antiviral drugs for 12 months. The response to therapy was accompanied with disappearance of HCV RNA from the plasma and proteinuria.
